The research project INVOLVE comparatively investigates in Germany and in India the vulnerability to as well as ability to cope with disasters of the population, as well as the volunteer involvement within the context of civil protection. Based on different scenarios, we identify precise needs for assistance and aid within the population and, secondly, analyze the motivation of volunteers within the context of disaster prevention and management. The insights thereby gained are used to develop, evaluate and improve strategies and education methods of organizations working in the field of civil protection, especially the care service of the German Red Cross. To this end, all of the actors involved in each phase of the project are involved in the research process.
INVOLVE is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and carried out by different project partners in Germany and India.
