Research Focus and Approach

The project aims at strengthening disaster management by incorporation of (unaffilated) volunteers

This requires knowledge about:

  • Needs (vulnerability) and
    self-help potentials (resilience)
    of people affected and general
    population
  • Cooperation of disaster management
    with various actors
  • Motivation of volunteers

Therefore a multi-level- and multi-dimensional methodological approach is applied:

Hazards: flooding, heat waves and economic crisis

Spatial levels: metropolis, medium sized city, rural area
